The standalone version has the black UI in the skeumorphic look of the actual SY85 hardware. The other version is an expansion pack for Pure Synth® FREE Player. The Pure Synth® version has more editing capabilities as the standalone (black) version is limited in dynamic assignable modulation sources. The Pure Synth® Expansion version has the silver UI; whereas, the standalone has the Black.

Yamaha SY-99/77 Virtual Sample Library
Released in 1991 this one is probably our second favorite synthesizer next to the EX5. The thing that made this synth amazing was it's AFM (Advanced FM Technology). Not only could it read the DX7 patches, but the enhanced AFM allowed for even better FM EPs with a ton of expression. The other thing you will recognize from this synth is it's incredible A/D converters which really make the synthesizer sound warm and phat. You can still hear the digital edge, but it's mixed with a warm analog tone that made all of the patches just sound professional and organic. This is what people lover about our libraries: We are able to capture the pure essence of the original hardware as it relates to sound and "feeling," and this library is no different.

Pure Synth® Expansion vs. Dedicated
Interface
The Standalone includes the black skeuomorphic interface that resembles the actual hardware. This version is still a plugin for VST/AU/AAX.
Navigation
The Standalone's navigation is very similar to the hardware with a small LCD screen; whereas, the expansion is more accessible with a larger editing surface.
Tweakability
You have better access to tweak your sounds using the Expansion as the parameters are immediately accessible with less button pushes.
Dynamic Modulation
The expansion allows you to assign dynamic modulation sources and the Standalone version does not.
VST/AU Plugin Support
Both versions load as a VST/AU plugin in your DAW. The Pure Synth® Expansion loads in Pure Synth® Player, but both are plugins.
Installation
The Standalone installs the samples inside of the Black UI. The Expansion comes as an expansion pack inside of Pure Synth® FREE Player.
What's the Bottom Line?
If you are a synth-head and love editing and creating your own sounds, then go for the Expansion. If you are sentimental about the UI and just want to play presets, then go for the standalone.

What is the difference between the Standlone and the Expansion version?
Can I load my SY99/SY77 Patches?
Our app is not compatible with the SY85 file format, nor can it load the sounds. Since we give you all of the raw waveforms to work with, you can re-produce those sounds through programming.
Will it Sound Like the Hardware?
We samples all of the waveforms and factory presets extensively; however, the filters, effects, and other synthesis functions cannot be mimicked exactly. We can safely say that we matched the presets to about 80%-90% of the original. The upside is that our effects, routing, functions, and synthesis are far more advanced than those of the hardware, so you can create sounds that rival the original.
Is this product shipped or is it digital download?
All of our products are digital downloadable and are processed immediately upon purchase. You will receive serials, download links, and detailed video instructions on how to install.

Is your software compatible with M1 natively?

If I purchase the desktop, will I get the iOS for FREE?
